2011-12 Research Committee

Purpose as stated in the UTSD Bylaws

The purpose of this committee, which shall be charged by the Senate and reports to the Dean, shall be to encourage and facilitate research at the School of Dentistry.

Committee Charge

• Provide counsel to the Associate Dean for Research on sustaining and enhancing the research infrastructure at the School of Dentistry.
• Foster basic, clinical, and educational research by faculty, staff, and students.
• Solicit and assist in evaluating applications for pilot project funding.
• Assist in evaluating proposals for student research fellowships.
• Make recommendations to the Associate Dean for Research for senior dental student awards in recognition of outstanding efforts in research.
• Assist in the planning and execution of formal research-related activities at the School of Dentistry.

Committee Structure

• The Ex Officio Members are the Associate Dean for Educational Research and Professional Development and Interim Associate Dean for Research.
• The Staff Member includes one representative from the Department of Periodontics.
• The Student Member includes one representative from the 4th Year Dental class.
