
A SMDEP Ambassador is a former participant who volunteers to recruit eligible SMDEP applicants to the program. The applicants must submit a completed application packet (online application, transcripts and recommendations) by the application deadline.
To be eligible, you must have also attended and completed SMDEP, the Minority Medical Education Program (MMEP), or the Summer Medical Education Program (SMEP).

As you recruit students for SMDEP, tell each of them to enter your ambassador identifier on the portion of the online application that asks, "Who Referred You?" This is how the National Program Office will know how many applicants with completed application packets you were responsible for recruiting.

The three SMDEP Ambassadors who recruit the most students that submit completed applications to SMDEP by the deadline will be funded to attend a medical- or dental-related professional conference. The conference must be approved by the SMDEP National Program Office.
