Application Information

Acceptance to the Preceptor program(s) does not in any way guarantee acceptance to the graduate residency program(s). Individuals will be required to apply to the graduate residency program(s) through normal mechanisms. For inquires regarding licensure in Texas please visit the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners website. For inquires regarding licensure in other states, please visit the ADA website under licensures.

Tuition and fees will be provided to you in the information/application packet. Please understand that your acceptance into the Preceptor program will not allow us to refund any or portions of the tuition and fees. Failure to make payments in full, as written in the acceptance letter will result in dismissal from the Preceptor program. There is a $350 application fee.

Preceptor applicants will be required to submit the following documentation:

  1. Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) course by course evaluation report of applicant’s transcript from the dental school attended.
  2. A copy of the applicant’s dental diploma.
  3. A copy of applicants resume and/or CV in English
  4. Two letters of recommendation from dental professionals
  5. A copy of National Board Part I scores (as specified by program)
  6. A copy of applicant’s TOEFL scores.
  7. Record of up to date immunizations.
  8. A letter from physician stating applicant is in general good health.

The Preceptor program(s) begin July 1 of the calendar year; running through June of the following calendar year (example: July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012). Upon request, the AEGD, GPR, Non-Provider Periodontics, and Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Preceptor programs accept applicants for a six-month program.

As the preceptorship programs are non-accredited programs, The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston will not be able to provide any means of financial assistance towards tuition fees.
