

Dr. Shawn Adibi received his DDS degree from University of Oklahoma in 1993. After graduation, he entered into private practice in Oklahoma City. Dr. Adibi completed a preceptorship in Implantology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1995 and received postgraduate training from the University of Kentucky for management of Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain. After completing parental Conscious Sedation training at New York Medical College, he practiced General Dentistry for many years in Oklahoma City and Edmond Oklahoma area, before moving to Houston in 2001.
Dr. Adibi served as dentist for Harris County Hospital District for 2002-2004. He received recognition for serving America’s underserved communities as a member of the National Health Service Corps. He has also received certification of appreciation from the Department of Health and Human Service for his dedication to children of Texas.
Currently Dr. Adibi is assistant professor of Department of Diagnostic Science where he teaches Treatment Planning, Assessment and Diagnostic Sciences to dental students. He is also a practice leader who advises students on their clinical learning experiences to become a competent dentist. He is the course director for second year clinic where students begin their treatment planning experiences. Additionally, he is involved in the teaching of Laser Dentistry, Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and Orofacial pain.
Dr. Adibi serves on several committees at School of Dentistry. In 2010 he became an ad hoc reviewer for American Dental Education Association, Journal of Dental Education. Since he joined School of Dentistry, he has published manuscripts on subjects of Laser Dentistry, Oral Pathology, and Conflict of interest in research and Patient care.
