Dr. Phil Pierpont currently serves as the Associate Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs and Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, at The University of Texas Dental School of Dentistry at Houston. His responsibilities include recruitment, admissions, retention, student services, and alumni relations. He has held that position since 1997. Dr. Pierpont is a 1977 graduate of the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the school and completed a postgraduate certificate in Fixed Prosthodontics in 1982. Current professional memberships include ADA tripartite membership, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American Dental Education Association, the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
His 36 year career in dental education includes prior appointments as Chair, Department of Occlusion and Fixed Prosthodontics and Director of Advanced Education. He is also a past chair of the ADEA Section on Student Affairs and Financial Aid and currently serves as Councilor of that section. He is very active in the ADA, Texas Dental Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society. At the Houston Society, he is a past officer and past member of the Board of Directors. He also served as President of The American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics and President of the Texas Section of the International College of Dentists.
