Dr. Donald Belles is an Associate Professor and the Graduate Prosthodontics Program Director at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. A graduate of Clark University Dr. Belles went on to receive his DDS from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1978. He completed his prosthodontic residency program in 1987 from the University of Texas HSC at San Antonio and Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. Dr. Belles received his certification in 1989 from the American Board of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Belles retired from the United States Air Force in the rank of Colonel in 1999, after 21 years of active service. His Air Force assignments included tours in California, Delaware, Texas, Florida, and Japan with a last assignment as Chief Prosthodontic Section- AEGD residency program, 59th medical wing (AETC), Lackland AFB. Dr. Belles accepted a position at the School of Dentistry soon after the completion of his Air Force career.
Dr. Belles completed the Educational Scholars Fellowship Program from Baylor College of Medicine in 2007. He is on the Board of Directors for the School of Dentistry faculty practice. He was awarded the John P. McGovern Outstanding Teaching Award (2007) and has been elected to faculty membership in Mu Mu Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. He received the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award for Scholarship in Teaching in 2008 and is a member of the Dean’s Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars. He completed The Academic and Administrative Leadership Development Program, UT-HSC at Houston in 2009.
