Darla McKitrick, RDH, MS is currently an Associate Professor and First Year Clinical Coordinator in the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. She has been on the faculty since 1984. Ms. McKitrick has also been on the faculty in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio and Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio. She received her Certificate in Dental Hygiene and undergraduate degree in education from The Ohio State University. She received her Master of Science degree in teaching from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. Along with her dental hygiene didactic and clinical courses, Ms. McKitrick also teaches an online course in the Dental Hygiene Degree Completion Program at UTSD. Ms. McKitrick has taught CE courses, has published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene and served as a curriculum consultant to the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. She is a Distinguished Alumna at the University of Houston - Clear Lake, a charter member of the Dean's Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars and the 2010 recipient of the Texas Teaching Excellence Award sponsored by Procter and Gamble and the Texas Dental Hygienists' Association.
