Three University of Texas School of Dentistry students have been awarded the Dr. Donald Charles Kroeger Student Research Scholarship in recognition of contributions to scientific research projects and/or outstanding academic achievement, all particularly in pharmacology. Fourth-year students Duncan Shepard, Rachel Bishop and Austin Ledingham received the award earlier this year.
The scholarship in Kroeger’s memory was established by his widow and children in 1999, to continue encouraging the students to pursue excellence in their work. Kroeger came to the School of Dentistry in 1951 and retired as chair of the Department of Pharmacology in 1987. He passed away in 1999.
